SUSTAINABILITY

Helmond Metalen is continuously developing in the field of sustainability, not only for now but also for the near future. We have defined a number of objectives and have set about achieving them.

 

Sustainability was a key part of the project to construct the new building right from the start of the plans. Many important facilities were consciously incorporated into the construction with one eye firmly fixed on the future. The construction of our new business premises took the environment into account, and thought was given to offsetting CO2 emissions.

No sooner had we started to use the new building than we could already record the following results and we mapped out a future with further projects.

HELMOND METALEN’S PLAN FOR THE FUTURE

2022
NEW BUSINESS PREMISES

We will move into the new business premises on our own site.
With the installation of 1,600 solar panels, we will be able to work self-sufficiently with a view to future storage in batteries. The CO2 reduction that we will achieve with this is documented.
Almost our entire fleet of machines is fully electric. Behind the business premises is a water feature to which all our rainwater drains are connected. This water supply will in turn be used for the sprinkler system on the site.

2023
OFFSETTING OF CO2

In order to offset CO2 even more, a decision has been made to invest in nature.
Right next to the business premises, a sizeable wood will be created in the original setting to capture CO2 and offset the operations.
There will also be further investment in the electrification of the forklifts and other equipment. A battery pack will be purchased to store power generated by the solar panels.

FURTHER RESEARCH

We will conduct research into further CO2 offsetting through woods located in the vicinity of our business.
